Jingchuan county is located in eastern Gansu province along the Gansu–Shaanxi border. The county administers 14 townships and 212 administrative villages, covering a total area of 1,409.3 square kilometers and a permanent population of 206,300.

Jingchuan boasts a long history and rich cultural heritage, with traditions shaped by the Queen Mother of the West, Buddhism and the natural environment..

The county enjoys favorable natural conditions, with elevations ranging from 930 to 1,460 meters, abundant sunshine and a moderate climate. It is recognized as one of China's most suitable regions for high-quality apple cultivation.

Historically, Jingchuan occupied a strategic position along the ancient Silk Road and served as the first major gateway westward from Chang’an to the western regions.

The county is home to a number of well-known cultural and scenic sites, including Huishan Wangmu Palace, Dayun Temple and the Wangmu Palace Grottoes.
