Chongxin county is located in eastern Gansu province, in the eastern part of Pingliang city. The county administers four towns, two townships, one industrial concentration zone and 79 administrative villages, covering a total area of 848.41 square kilometers. It has a permanent population of 82,100.
Chongxin is regarded as a birthplace of early Zhou and pre-Qin culture. The county is home to the nationally protected cultural heritage site of Wukang Wang Temple, along with a rich array of intangible cultural heritage and folk traditions.
The county enjoys a well-preserved ecological environment, with a forest coverage rate of 46.64 percent, abundant water resources and numerous ancient trees. With an average annual temperature of 10.6°C, distinct seasons and a pleasant climate, Chongxin has been positioned as a livable and tourism-friendly destination with growing wellness tourism appeal.
The county has a strong agricultural industry and is recognized as a high-quality production area for beef cattle and apples.
