Pingliang Guowei Starch Co Ltd, a  agricultural industrialization company specializing in corn processing, byproduct processing and sales, has grown into a key player in the city's biomanufacturing industry chain since moving into the Pingliang Industrial Park in September 2020.

With support from the local government in areas including land use, taxation, and financing, the company has become a leading enterprise in the biomanufacturing sector, building a product portfolio spanning seven categories, including starch, protein powder, and corn germ oil.

To support its high-quality growth, Guowei invested 50 million yuan ($7.38 million) to build a digital workshop, enabling a shift from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing. The company has also established a marketing network covering 17 provincial-level regions, with its "Guowei" brand ranking first in market share in western China.

While expanding its business, the company has also fulfilled its social responsibilities. By leveraging local agricultural resources and adopting an "order-based farming plus guaranteed purchase" model, it has helped more than 500,000 farming households increase their annual income by over 2,000 yuan on average. The model has turned 2 million mu (about 133,333 hectares) of cornfields into a reliable source of long-term income for local farmers.
