Zhuanglang county in Pingliang, Gansu province, has stepped up the construction of its "Four-Good Rural Roads" network in recent years, using better transportation to boost rural industries and increase farmers' incomes.

The county now has 1,691.8 kilometers of rural roads, with a network density of 136.16 kilometers per 100 square kilometers. All towns, administrative villages and natural villages are connected by paved roads.

This year, the county is upgrading national and provincial highways while building 16 kilometers of paved roads serving the apple industry as well as 228 kilometers of gravel roads.

Road management and maintenance have also been strengthened, with all rural roads covered by routine maintenance. Since the start of this year, 352.95 kilometers of roads have been renovated and over 20,000 square meters of pavement repaired.

The county operates 61 passenger routes and four urban bus lines, while a three-tier logistics network has enhanced the movement of people and goods. From January to May, road freight turnover reached 829.15 million ton-kilometers. Postal business volume surged 128.22 percent year-on-year in the first four months, brining local apples to more markets and providing strong transportation support for rural vitalization.

Zhuanglang will continue to improve rural road construction, management, maintenance and operation, speed up key projects, optimize logistics networks, and enhance transport safety to drive high-quality rural vitalization.
